About the author

This photo bears no resemblance to me whatsoever; it’s an AI-generated image created to protect the privacy of my son, who is still a minor. I am an IT professional based in Toronto. From any perspective, my life seems detached from the realm of writing and publishing. Yet, peculiar experiences and a profound yearning for my son, Jason, have compelled me to take up the pen and write this book about what transpired in Toronto. It meticulously recounts all the significant events and incidents that have shaped the past ten years of my life in this beautiful and renowned city of Canada.

I am an energetic and optimistic Chinese immigrant. The twists of fate have injected unexpected turbulence into what should have been a peaceful life. The machinations of various interest groups have ruthlessly battered my innocent and kind moral beliefs. Apart from bravely facing these challenges and seeking hope amidst adversity, my choices are very limited. Writing this book is the righteous form of doing the right thing.

I have been living together with my girlfriend, Emma, for over six years. Marriage or even a common-law relationship has never been in our plans. Despite the absence of legal ties, we are family. Our connection is built upon mutual respect, emotional dependence, and the sharing of common beliefs. Most importantly, we won’t let family law to hijack our lives. We don’t want the ugly side of human nature to be revealed during legal disputes. We keep our fates in our own hands.

A lovely Ragdoll cat, Snowball, has been with us for years. The kitten was as pure white as snow when I first saw her. Over time, she has grown into a large furry creature. She’s always been considered a daughter to me. The warm cuddles with her should have been from my child Jason, who had been abducted by legal guns eight years ago. The pursuit of bringing my son back home will never cease.

I am a seasoned farmer. I plant vegetables in my backyard including beans, cucumbers and tomatoes. The reason for repeatedly planting these three types of veggies year after year is their resistance to pests and damage from small animals. Factors favoring them also include their delicious taste, their positive impact on health, and their high yield. Flowers are my favorite; annuals are dazzling in colors and perennials faithfully return each year. I have a 3-in-1 cherry tree and a grapevine. The grapevine yields the sweetest grapes that I harvest for juice in the autumn. Additionally, the small green house serves as a nursery for the seedlings in the early spring and extends the life of flowers all the way to Christmas.

I am a professional driver. I drove school bus fifteen year ago. Now I am still working as an Uber driver on the side, which has enabled me to become familiar with every street in the city of Toronto. Over the years, I have traversed almost all major cities in China, Germany, and Canada, as well as many key cities throughout Europe and the United States. Driving has been both a profession and a passion for me, offering me the opportunity to explore and appreciate the beauty of our planet firsthand.
